D of E Award
Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a voluntary, non-competitive programme of practical, cultural and adventurous activities, designed to support the personal and social development of young people aged 14-25, regardless of gender, background or ability. It offers an individual challenge and encourages young people to undertake exciting, constructive, challenging and enjoyable activities in their free time.
It has three progressive levels:
- Bronze (for those aged 14 and over)
- Silver (for those aged 15 and over) and
- Gold (for those aged 16 and over)
You achieve your Award by completing a personal programme of activities in four sections (five if you’re going for Gold)
- Volunteering
- Physical
- Skills
- Expedition
- And for Gold, a Residential
You’ll find yourself helping people or the community, getting fitter,developing skills, going on an expedition and taking part in a residential activity (Gold only).
The Epping Forest South Duke Of Edinburgh Unit meets every four weeks, this evening is held on the first Thursday of each month. You will be able to discuss with the DofE leaders who your are progressing, ask questions and advice as well as plan and train for Expeditions.
