Welcome to The Explorer Website

Explorer Scouting supports young people aged 14 and 18 years old. The training programme for the section is closely linked to the Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme, and members are encouraged to participate in both schemes either through their school or directly through the Explorer Unit.
Explorers are free to join any activity in the District and can join in the programme as much or as little as they are able. This flexibility is there to accommodate exam periods and other commitments that can be important at their age.
There is a climbing interest group; there is a sailing interest group which meets regularly for their water practical during the summer months, and there is a Young Leaders Unit.
“To anyone who hasn’t tried Scouting before, I’d say come on up and have a go! I think that most people don’t really know that Scouting is about activities, friendship and meeting people from other countries. I’ve been in the Movement since I was a Beaver and I still love it!”
